Michael Beasley posted on 10/06/2008
Is Michael Beasley worth anything to Miami? Sure. He's six feet eight inches in height, ambidextrous, and plays both forward positions. What more can you ask for?
Well, let's look at experience. Ummm, he has that. Beasley broke and set records in high school and in the NCAA. What else? He debut in the NBA summer league with 28 points, 9 boards, and 2 assists. Then he went on to lead the NBA league for points averaged in the summer session.
But is he mature? That is another issue. Beasley was associated with two fellow rookies in an incident that involved the "strong smell of marijuana, a hotel room, police, and a fire alarm. This is not so good.
Nonetheless, Miami is setup to win. Pat Riley will raise Beasley's basketball IQ, whether Beasley likes it or not. Dwayne Wade will simply make Beasley look like a great basketball player, giving him openings on the floor (Look what Wade did for the U.S. Olympic Team). Then Shawn Marion has his contract ready to terminate by the end of next summer, and if Marion wants more money on the trading block then guess what? Miami has to win. Marion has no choice but to school Michael Beasley. Because if Beasley doesn't look good then Marion doesn't look good.
